I have been ‘physical’ pretty much all my life but as a dancer based, it was all cardio based so I had very little muscle. Since meeting my other half last year and completing my personal training course I found a new passion for weight training and haven’t looked back since. Nick at the time had already competed in many shows and introduced me to the competing world and made me challenge myself to step on stage!
I stepped on stage for the first time in April 2016, nothing can prepare you for that first step.
Training for a competition is amazing, 6 day split targeting specific muscle groups. I’m a real firecracker when it comes to working out, I put my all into it. Personally there is nothing better than that feeling after a really good workout! Dieting for the competitions however was hard the first time round. I’m a big foodie (and a fussy one) but by my last few competitions I really had found what works for me. That’s the thing though, what works for one person may not work for you, remember that! Eat clean – Train dirty
I saw the Glifting Girls advert and immediately said “I want to do it”. It showed real athlete support both before and after the show. From my first phone call with the show director Natalia Aisha to discuss which categories I should enter I just knew I had to do it! Along with that it had real opportunities for the girls after, especially within modelling which is where I would like to go.
The day of the competition was Fun! Backstage was perfect, nice changing rooms, LOVELY girls from all over the UK and a genuine supportive atmosphere. The show went so smoothly we were finished by 5 ( a miracle for fitness shows) which was perfect as all the athlete want it to eat a real big cheat meal the hard work is done. Honestly the most relaxed day, no pressures, great people and amazing prizes!
After the show I was completely over whelmed, I came away from the competition with 3 first place trophies! (Bikini, elegance and theme wear). I sat speechless most the way home and it definitely didn’t sink in for a few days. Physically I was aching the next day from all the posing (which if you haven’t done it, is a workout in itself) but I was straight back into training.
Since stepping on the Glifting Girls stage ive already had so many opportunities. One of the prizes from the show being a calendar shoot which supported cancer research – it was such a good day not only because of the amazing photos by Heather Valentine but also to see all the girls from the show again. Along with this I received some lovely prizes such as a squaterella jumpsuit and a prepped and packed bag! BUT onto the huge news that because of this show I am now a supported athlete of NRGFUEL. Who I can’t wait to team up with and promote there products.
Right now I’m sitting quite comfortably on my off season. Next year I will be competing again. I’m prepping a few girls for Glifting Girls in April and looking forward to being the other side of the stage! I’m going to be pushing my name further out there next year along with my other half Nick getting comfortable in the fitness industry. Long term plans – take every opportunity as it comes
I will Definitely be competing with Glifting Girls again, Who knows when… But you will see me come back and retain my titles.
